Although football eventually overshadowed its popularity, Pelota Vasca maintained a significant presence with stadiums and enthusiasts in various regions. The Basque diaspora played a crucial role in internationalizing the sport, taking it to countries like Argentina, France, and the Netherlands, where it adapted and evolved according to local cultures.
In 1929, the International Federation of Basque Pelota (FIPV) was established in Buenos Aires, marking a milestone in the sport’s history. This federation, founded by representatives from Spain, France, and Argentina, reflects the collaborative spirit and global reach of the Basque community.
